Cashew Nut Allergen ELISA kit

Cashews are sourced from Africa, Asia and South America. In the US, Cashew nut allergy is the second most commonly reported Tree nut allergy. Unlike other ELISA methods, BioFront’s MonoTrace ELISA kit is highly specific to Cashew.

CROSS-REACTIVITY

The assay exhibits strong reactivity to cashew (Anacardium occidentale). At concentrations as high as 100,000 ppmwalnut (0.1297%), pecan (0.0517%), and pistachio (0.0101%) were minimally cross-reactive in the assay.No cross-reactivity was observed in the other matrices including a broad range of tree nuts, legumes, seeds, flour,meats and spices.

RECOVERY

The MonoTrace Cashew ELISA kit is suitable for the qualitative or quantitative detection of cashew within cake, cookies, chocolate, ice cream and spices. Chocolate, ice cream and spice extractions require the addition of 5% (w/v) non-fat dry milk (NFDM). This extraction additive is needed for samples containing polyphenols, which include: chocolate, fruits, teas, coffee, red wine and soybean as well as others not listed here. Recoveries were acceptable, according to current AOAC guidelines (J. AOAC Int. 2012). In summary, cashew protein was efficiently extracted and detected using the MonoTrace Cashew ELISA from common food matrices and spices.
